Early Life and Education
Born on May 14, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, Jill Stein is the daughter of Gladys and Joseph Stein. Growing up in Highland Park, Illinois, she was raised in a Reform Jewish household. Stein attended Chicago’s North Shore Congregation Israel during her upbringing.
In 1973, Stein graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where she pursued studies in psychology, sociology, and anthropology. Subsequently, she enrolled in Harvard Medical School, completing her studies in 1979.
Following her graduation from Harvard Medical School, Stein practiced internal medicine for 25 years at institutions in the Boston areas such as Simmons College Health Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Additionally, she was an instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
