Chris Briney was born in Hartford, Connecticut. His parents where once in the acting industry. He has a sister.
In 2015, he took part in a five-week intensive theater program at Wesleyan University and went to Waterbury Arts Magnet School.
He relocated to New York City in 2016 in order to enroll at Pace University. In 2020, he received his acting BFA. He held a job at Trader Joe’s on Manhattan’s Lower East Side while he was a student.

Career
In 2021, Director Mary Harron found the then-unknown Briney and cast her in the biographical film Dalíland. Before Dalíland production started, he had handed in an audition tape for The Summer I Turned Pretty. He did a chemistry read over Zoom while filming Dalíland in Liverpool and got a callback.
In 2023, Briney presented at the MTV Movie & TV Awards alongside Lola Tung and Gavin Casalegno, his co-stars from The Summer I Turned Pretty.
In 2024, In the movie adaptation of Mean Girls: The Musical, Briney played Aaron Samuels for Paramount Pictures. When the singing portion of the character was eliminated, he finally agreed to play it after having initially turned it down.
